S.F. identifies 88-year-old woman killed in Ingleside hit-and-run

The woman killed in a suspected DUI, hit-and-run collision near San Francisco’s Ingleside neighborhood last weekend was identified Tuesday as 88-year-old Lau Sim Lui.

Lui, a San Francisco resident, was struck by a driver at the intersection of Ocean and Ashton avenues around 6:40 p.m. Sunday, police and fire officials said. She died at the scene from a severe head injury, officials said.

Officers later located the driver and the vehicle they believe struck the woman about a mile away on Shields Street near Brooks Park, police said. The driver, Hai Le, was detained “for further investigation” and then arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, and hit and run, police said…
