The teenager, who lost most of his ability to walk after falling ill, was initially taken to a Sharp hospital. After undergoing several tests, a possible diagnosis of Guillain-Barre syndrome was suggested. However, due to the patient’s age, he was transferred to Rady’s for further testing. The parent alleges that Rady’s refused to conduct the necessary tests and instead diagnosed the teenager with a functional neurological disorder, sending him home with a wheelchair and advice to work on his mental health. The parent also claims that the hospital ignored the teenager’s severe lightheadedness and back and spinal pain.
