SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – The Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation calls on local businesses, churches, and volunteers to organize food drives after the government shutdown halted SNAP benefits for next month.
OACAC aims to prevent hunger among residents of southwest Missouri by coordinating a community-wide response. The organization will host a planning meeting to develop strategies for food distribution.
“Really, anybody who is interested in getting food into the hands of our community members during this time is welcome,” said Bridgette Allen, Community Resource Manager at OACAC. “If you’re just a concerned citizen looking for how to be able to best volunteer or donate during this time, we encourage you to come as well. Usually, we’re stronger together, so the more people there, the more we have opportunities to come up with a collaborative effort to kind of mitigate this issue.”…
