Dickerson Park Zoo celebrates fall with annual Pumpkin Squash event

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Dickerson Park Zoo is ringing in the fall season with its annual Pumpkin Squash on Tuesday.

The zoo teamed up with Graddy Real Estate for its annual Pumpkin Squash, which provides the animals with some fall treats. Some of the animals partaking in the fun include elephants, bears, wolves and tigers.

Zoo officials say this event provides some enrichment opportunities for the animals while also getting them into the fall spirit.

“Considered an enrichment. It’s something that they will enjoy. Some of the animals really like the pumpkins, and even the tiger, surprisingly, will even play with them and tear them apart,” said Joey Powell, Dickerson Park Zoo Public Relations Director. “A lot of the pumpkins that they brought will become part of our very happy Thanksgiving that we’ll have next month.”…
