Tucson High School had two really scary incidents in October where a student had illegal drugs 💊 and another student brought a gun 🔫 to school. The adults in charge made bad decisions that put other students at risk 🚸, like walking the student with the gun all the way across campus instead of dealing with it right away 🏫. They also told a school safety person not to report a student who hurt him, which sends a message that students can hurt school staff without getting in trouble 😡.
The principal is Jon Lansa 👨🏫, who used to work at another school called Amphitheater High. There, he let his church ⛪ use the school building and favored church members who worked at the school, which made other teachers unhappy 😠. His church has been investigated and called a cult by people who used to be members, and three different colleges 🏫 kicked the church off their campuses. Even though he had problems at his old school because of his church, Tucson school district hired him to run their biggest high school 🎒.
One of the school board members who’s supposed to watch over the principal is Dr. Ravi Shah 👨⚕️, who also works as a doctor at the county jail 🚔 where a lot of people have died because they didn’t get good medical care 💔. Dr. Shah gets paid $400,000 a year 💵 from a private company that runs the jail healthcare, and he was caught partying 🥳 with a county supervisor right before that supervisor voted to give his company more money 💸…
