School Board Considers Banning All Personal Student Devices During School Day

The Loudoun County School Board may prohibit the use of all personal devices by students during the school day, including phones, laptops, and more.

A state law passed in April prohibits students from using cell phones between the first and last bell. The state code also bans any personal device that could connect to the internet.

The revisions, proposed to the Student Behavior and Accountability Committee at its Monday meeting, include banning the use of personal “cell phones, laptops, tablets, smartwatches, earbuds, personal gaming devices, and other technologies” during the school day.
