On a busy Monday evening in Back Bay, two incidents of shoplifting resulted in arrests. The first episode unfolded at around 5:43 PM when a man was spotted by an undercover Lieutenant Detective, engaging in theft inside a store on Newbury Street. Assistance was called upon from the officers of District D-4 (South End) to address the situation, as reported by the Boston Police Department.
Bearing witness to the man’s attempt to flee with stolen goods, the detective revealed his identity as a Boston Police Officer and attempted to detain him. Despite a brief scuffle, the suspect, later identified as Kevin Bridgeman, 58, of Dorchester, broke away, initiating a pursuit that ended at the Copley MBTA Station with his arrest, according to the Boston Police Department official police report. Bridgeman is facing charges of Larceny Over $250 and Resisting Arrest after further investigation linked him to additional theft from Urban Outfitters.
The night continued with a second case of shoplifting, this time at the Prudential Mall’s Alo store. At approximately 8:30 PM, the perpetrator had just left the store when officers were able to apprehend him.
