Central Ohio restaurants fill the gap amid upcoming SNAP, WIC delays

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — With the federal government shutdown nearly reaching the one-month mark, thousands of families across Central Ohio are growing increasingly concerned about where their next meal will come from.

The USDA is warning that Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for November could be delayed or halted entirely if the shutdown continues and restaurants in the area are stepping up to help.

At the Polaris/ Westerville location of Chicken Salad Chick, franchise owner Jen Crichfield says her restaurant is offering free meals for kids over the next few weeks as families face pauses to SNAP and WIC benefits…
