At West Kelloggsville Elementary in Kelloggsville, Michigan, custodians Ashley Balsktis and Teresa Emmons have decorated more than a dozen classroom doors for Halloween. The project started when Balsktis decorated the custodian closet door. This year, they expanded the effort to include other doors, using designs such as monsters, ghosts, and minions.
Principal Casey Wearing and students, including second-grader Aiven Stewart, have noticed the decorations. Aiven saw Balsktis while she was working on a door. Balsktis graduated from Kelloggsville in 2013. Emmons has worked in the district for four years.
They used ideas from Pinterest to create the designs. Students have shown interest in the decorations, with some favorites being a purple minion and a one-eyed monster. The decorations have led to more conversations among students…
