Mother sues Priceville, Dog the Bounty Hunter’s son over deadly police chase. What to know

The mother of a 17-year-old killed in a September crash is suing the City of Priceville, police officer Garry Chapman, son of TV personality Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman and the driver who was being pursued when the deadly collision occurred.

Rachel Moore filed the lawsuit after her son, Tristan Hollis, was killed in the neighboring town of Hartselle when a car fleeing police slammed into a van carrying him and three friends.

What the lawsuit alleges against Priceville and Officer Chapman

According to court documents, the driver, Archie Hale, acted negligently and “should have known that his actions would likely result in injury or death.” The suit also claims the City of Priceville and Officer Chapman were negligent in the pursuit that led to the crash.

The lawsuit claims the City of Priceville was negligent in hiring and supervising Chapman, alleging the city “negligently, recklessly, and/or wantonly” employed and retained him. The suit also accuses Chapman, individually, of “negligently” operating a vehicle and failing to drive safely on Alabama highways…
