Veterans support displaced NAS Guantanamo families in Pensacola with free meals

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Local veterans organizations are continuing to offer help to the nearly 900 non-essential personnel and their families from NAS Guantanamo Bay at NAS Pensacola.

On Wednesday, AmVets Post 292, local veterans organizations and Costello’s Butcher Shop plan on cooking hundreds of hamburgers and more than 1,000 hot dogs for those individuals, free of charge

“Being displaced like that brings a lot of stress and there’s a lot going on because of the shutdown,” said Christopher Faber with Veterans for a Purpose. “Us working with all these other organizations are able to just help them out a little bit. We’re doing something for the community and we’re coming together.”…
