Second sewage spill within 7 days occurs on 1991 GA-25 Connector

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Around 12,000 gallons of sewage has spilled on the 1991 GA-25 Connector within the past seven days after a second spill occurred Wednesday, according to city officials.

The sewage spill occurred around at 8 a.m. Wednesday due to a failed air release valve (ARV) in a sanitary sewer force main, a city spokesperson said. An estimated 5,000 gallons of sewage discharged through a manhole before it was stopped.

Six days prior to this spill, a notice was made for a spill at the same location on Thursday, Oct. 23 due to a failure of the same air release valve. A city spokesperson said it was repaired onsite after the Oct. 23 spill…
