BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A team from the United Cajun Navy traveled from Baton Rouge to Jamaica to help assess damage and coordinate relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
According to officials, southwestern Jamaica suffered extensive damage, with schools, homes, and a hospital all impacted by the storm. Hundreds of thousands of people are reportedly without power.
