FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Georgia man is facing multiple charges after police say he recruited homeless people to cash forged checks in several counties in Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley, according to court documents.
Kalil Smith, 27, of Atlanta, was arrested by the Fayetteville Police Department on Oct. 28 for seven counts of forgery, one count of theft of property and one count of engaging in a continuing criminal or gang enterprise.
A probable cause affidavit said that between Aug. 17 and Aug. 28, an out-of-state criminal group targeted Northwest Arkansas with multiple check forgeries.
