Preview tour held of affordable housing on Colvin Avenue in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — An affordable housing development in the city of Albany held a preview tour on Wednesday. The Colvin Avenue Commons consists of 63 apartments and over 4,000 sq. ft. of commercial space for a childcare center for building residents and the broader Albany community.

Officials said one bedroom apartments start as low as $829 a month but varies based on each family’s income. Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan said the location off Central Avenue is ideal.

“This is housing that is affordable to working families, and it is in a location that as part of our Comprehensive Plan, we said we wanted to prioritize,” she said. “As a city, we talked about ensuring that we were creating density near our largest employers and near public transit. And so, this is an ideal location for that.”
