PARMA, Ohio — A Hillside Middle School student was struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning while crossing Pleasant Valley Road in front of Normandy High School, according to Normandy Principal Rachel Urban.
“A Hillside Middle School student was traveling east on Pleasant Valley Road on a scooter, wearing a helmet, and using the crosswalk when a vehicle turning into the school parking lot made contact with the student at a low rate of speed,” Urban stated. “A nearby witness called emergency services and the student’s parent accompanied him to the hospital for evaluation.”
The student was able to walk to the ambulance and communicate with staff following the incident, according to the statement sent to parents. School officials expressed gratitude for the actions of those who responded at the scene…
