FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Allen County commissioners are set to consider declaring an emergency on Friday to repair Bridge 38 on Hursh Road over Cedar Creek. They will also review a $17,400 engineering contract to design temporary fixes, allowing the bridge to reopen with a weight limit.
The bridge, located in Cedar Creek Township near Leo-Cedarville, was closed after inspectors identified new structural issues. These problems were not evident in regular checks and had not previously triggered weight limits.
The emergency declaration would enable the county to hire vendors without formal bidding, addressing the public-safety risk. Commissioners plan to authorize the Highway Department to secure design services and construction quotes immediately…
