Covington Road Trail complete, expanding transportation in southwest Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A miles-long trail on Fort Wayne’s southwest side that connects neighborhoods, businesses and schools has been officially completed, the city’s Public Works Division announced Thursday.

The Covington Road Trail is now fully open after years of construction split into eight phases starting back in 2009. The 4.7-mile stretch is part of the 28.8 miles of existing trails in the Aboite Trails Network.

Within half a mile of the trail, there are 4,024 homes and apartments with 10,181 residents, 373 businesses with 4,199 employees, and eight schools, according to the press release.

Neighborhoods that connect to the trail directly include Sycamore Hills, Shores of Rock Creek, Candelite Park, Timber Lakes, Bluewater Estates, Covington Pointe, The Fountain at Covington, Inverness Lakes and Colony Bay Apartments…
