Madison County Sheriff’s Office honors retiring sergeant after 26 years of service

MADISON COUNTY, ALABAMA, Ala. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is celebrating the retirement of Sergeant Brian Smith after more than 26 years of dedicated service to the community.

The Sheriff shared highlights of his career on social media. Smith began his career with the Sheriff’s Office in December 1999 as a patrol deputy, quickly earning a reputation for professionalism, leadership, and compassion. He later became one of the original members of the department’s School Resource Officer (SRO) program, helping shape it into the respected division it is today. His work as an SRO left a lasting impact on students and schools across the county.

In 2020, Smith was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to Third Shift Patrol. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for integrity, steady leadership, and a genuine commitment to serving others…
