Georgia Man Arrested for Assault and Robbery of Chicago Tourist in Miami Beach

A violent altercation that unfolded in Miami Beach has led to the arrest of a Georgia man, according to police. The incident, which took place early Sunday, was captured on surveillance footage showing the suspect, adorned in pink, assaulting and robbing a man.

Local10 reports that the suspect, identified as Cornelius Wedner, 25, from Ellenwood, Georgia, was seen on video engaging with the victim before suddenly punching him. The surveillance video, provided by Sherbrooke Hotel’s owner Mitch Novick, depicted a relentless attack where the suspect continued to brutally beat the downed victim. “I’ve seen a lot of crazy stuff, this is up there,” Novick told Local10. “The guy really took a beating. Really unnecessary.”

The victim, Mouhamed Leigh, a tourist from Chicago, was left with severe injuries. NBC Miami, citing the arrest report, mentioned that Leigh was punched in the mouth and repeatedly kicked and kneed in the head by a man wearing all pink who stole his bag and iPhone.
