MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — City leaders officially broke ground on Wednesday on a major infrastructure project that will completely rebuild Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue from Butchers Lane to Broad Street.

The $11.2 million ‘Complete Streets’ project will include full reconstruction of the roadway, new curbs, gutters, underground utilities, stormwater drainage, and sidewalks. The redesign will also add bike lanes.
Mayor Sandy Stimpson said the project is one he’s been determined to see get started.
