County DAs want new smoke shop regulations following grand jury investigation

Three district attorneys for communities surrounding Philadelphia came out on Thursday to call for legislators to provide solutions concerning the sales of unregulated marijuana — and phony marijuana — products that they have found at smoke shops in communities throughout the region.

During the day, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele was joined by Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn and Chester County District Attorney Chris de Berrena-Sarobe as he unveiled the findings of an investigation they are calling “Unregulated, Unsafe, and Illegal: The Reality of Smoke Shops in Pennsylvania.”

According to Steele, the results of this 10-month grand jury investigation looked at the current operations of smoke shops throughout the region, illegal activities that that officials claim to have uncovered and changes that the investigation found could be made to protect the public…
