Halloween falls on a Friday this year, and if you think that means extra party time and more relaxed trick-or-treating rules, you’d be wrong, in some Illinois towns.
Rockford Area Trick-or-Treat Times
When I discovered Halloween was on a Friday in 2025, I automatically wondered if Illinois cities and towns would be extending trick-or-treating hours this year, but that doesn’t look to be the case.
After looking at the list of 2025 trick-or-treat times, the only major change that I saw was that all towns have chosen to hold trick-or-treating on Halloween night.
Things to Expect on Halloween Night
My neighborhood gets a lot of trick-or-treaters every Halloween, but I’m preparing for even more visitors this year. Besides buying extra candy, here are a few more things I think we all need to prepare for this year:
- Trick-or-treaters arriving later than usual. Most places in the Stateline area have posted trick-or-treat hours beginning between 5 and 6 p.m., but I think families won’t be in such a rush to get started, because they don’t need to worry about school night bedtimes.
- More older trick-or-treaters – I think more teens wilI take advantage of Halloween falling on Friday this year and will gather in groups to go trick-or-treating. I have no problem handing out candy to teenagers dressed in costumes, but if you think there should be an age limit for the fun, you might just want to turn your porch lights off this year.
- Doorbells ringing after trick-or-treat hours end. Every Halloween sees a few late stragglers after trick-or-treat hours end, but I predict families will stay out later this year. I plan on having cocktails in our driveway, handing out candy for as long as the children keep coming.
