Boulder County, Colorado, has opened its new alternative sentencing facility, the Joe Pelle Center. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on October 24, 2025. County officials, staff, and community partners attended the event. The facility is named after retired Sheriff Joe Pelle, who served from 2003 to 2023.
Commissioner Ashley Stolzmann spoke about the center’s role in providing a rehabilitative and therapeutic approach to public safety. She noted that Boulder County voters approved the facility with 75% support. Stolzmann also recognized the work of county staff in completing the project. The center is intended to help residents re-enter the community and reduce repeat offenses.
Sheriff Joe Pelle thanked the community for supporting the initiative. He commented on the center’s approach and its intended impact for future use.
