ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Boys and Girls Club of Southcentral Alaska’s afterschool programs are on an ‘operational pause,’ until further notice. Since October 20th, the nonprofit has temporarily paused its clubhouse programs, citing a lack of cash flow for the closure.
“It’s a huge, huge issue,” Susan Anderson, the CEO of Boys and Girls Club of Southcentral Alaska, said. “We feel very, very sad that we aren’t able to offer those opportunities right now.”
Anderson currently oversees around 20 Boys and Girls clubs around the state. According to the club, it has 1,363 Active Club Members with about a third of their members attending daily. The operational pause, she added, is not impacting the childcare development center and the Turnagain Elementary site. Both locations, Anderson said, are part of its licensed locations…
