Free legacy planning services available in Summit, Medina counties; see how to apply

AKRON, Ohio – The United Way of Summit and Medina and the city of Akron are partnering with the national nonprofit Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund to offer free legacy planning services for low and moderate-income community members in Summit and Medina counties.

The legacy-planning services will be offered on an individual basis through the United Way’s Akron Financial Empowerment Center. The goal of the partnership is to help residents protect their assets and create intergenerational wealth, according to a news release.

Approximately 76% of Americans don’t have a will, according to Caring.com’s 2025 Wills and Estate Planning Survey. Not having such documentation can leave assets such as bank accounts, a 401K or a home unsecured.
