Asheville City Council approves temporary changes to downtown noise ordinance

Over the next year, downtown Asheville could get a little louder.

At Asheville City Council’s Oct. 28 meeting, members voted, 4-3, in favor of an amendment permitting performance centers to increase the time they could exceed maximum decibel levels from 30 days of events per year to 50, with a sunset of Dec. 31, 2026.
