New U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kicks Off Tenure with Star-Studded Controversy
Athens, Greece – Kimberly Guilfoyle, America’s newly appointed ambassador to Greece, is set to make a grand entrance, but her plans for a lavish nightclub party are raising eyebrows among diplomatic circles. The event, scheduled for Sunday, November 2, has some questioning whether it sends the right message to U.S. adversaries.
Guilfoyle, who was previously engaged to Donald Trump Jr., is expected to arrive at the party at Kentro Athinon, a popular Athens club known for its lively atmosphere where patrons traditionally shower performers with flowers. She will be accompanied by billionaire Eric Vassilatos, co-founder of Vivid Seats. Greek pop idol Konstantinos Argiros, with whom Guilfoyle has recently garnered headlines for their public friendship, is also slated to perform.
An unnamed insider reportedly expressed concerns, stating, “We look like the banana republic right now. You know Russia and China are looking at us like fools.”
Guests have been asked to RSVP to the U.S. Embassy in Athens for the 9 PM gathering.
Guilfoyle and Argiros’s friendship has been a topic of discussion since October 9, when Argiros reportedly pulled her onto the stage to dance during his performance at a London charity gala for The Hellenic Initiative. Sources suggest that a series of glamorous events, including yacht trips and VIP parties, are being planned by Guilfoyle, Argiros, and Vassilatos.
However, concerns are reportedly growing among those close to Guilfoyle regarding her social life and her relationships with the Greek entertainer and CEO, with some believing these associations could compromise her credibility in her new diplomatic role.
Furthermore, influential Greek-Americans are reportedly attempting to “wiggle their way” into the new ambassador’s inner circle, acting as “gatekeepers.” One insider noted, “They are trying to wiggle their way into her world since she is coming in fresh and naive with this level of status. Plus, she has an in with the president.”
Guilfoyle is scheduled to officially begin her role next Tuesday, following her arrival in Athens, where she will present her diplomatic credentials to Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas. Her first official engagement as ambassador is slated for November 6-7, when she will host a reception at the Zappeion in conjunction with the Transatlantic Energy Cooperation Forum.
Reports indicate that Guilfoyle initially sought an ambassadorship to the Vatican, a request that President Trump reportedly deemed a “non-starter.” The Greece posting is said to have been a compromise, with Sergio Gor, former director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office and an ally of Guilfoyle and Donald Trump Jr., reportedly advocating for her diplomatic placement.
A diplomatic source commented on the Vatican aspiration, saying, “It came out of left field. There was no way they were going to give her the Vatican.
It wouldn’t be a fit, for many reasons.” Guilfoyle, however, has denied ever pursuing a role at the Vatican and has expressed excitement about being “the first female ambassador to Greece.”
