CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – After some much needed rain, drier conditions take hold and now get ready for the wind. Gusty winds and cool sunshine for Friday – Halloween! Winds out of the west, northwest with frequent gusts 20-40 mph during the day. A Wind Advisory is posted for the Blue Ridge Mountains, with gusts 50 mph or a little higher Friday. The wind may cause some weakened trees and or branches to fall and some isolated power outages possible as well.
Still expecting an eerily breezy and ghoulishly cool temperatures in the 50s and 40s for Trick or Treaters Friday evening.
This first weekend of November is looking cool, but nice. The mornings will start in the cold 30s. Don’t forget, the Time Change! “Fall Back” one hour by early Sunday morning, as Daylight Savings Time ends and Standard Time returns. Also, a good time to change the batteries in home smoke detectors.
Hurricane Melissa will swipe west of Bermuda overnight into Friday morning. The hurricane is accelerating in forward speed as it heads toward the most eastern portions of Canada (Nova Scotia and Saint John’s) and will most likely reach those areas as either a cat 1 or a post-tropical cyclone.
