ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A Pensacola man has been sentenced on several charges, including drug trafficking, according to a news release.

According to the news release, issued by the Office of State Attorney, First Judicial Circuit of Florida, 29-year-old Derrell Roman was sentenced to 60 years in state prison for trafficking in fentanyl, more than 28 grams, attempted aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, aggravated fleeing and eluding, possession of a controlled substance, sale, manufacture or deliver a controlled substance and two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer.
In February 2024, Roman fled from officers, exceeding speeds of 90 mph through Escambia County, before losing control of his car and crashing into a car wash off Mobile Highway, the release said.
Roman then got out of the car and ran from the officers, but they caught up to him. When officers finally caught up to him, they found more than 70 grams of fentanyl in his backpack.

During sentencing, Judge John F. Simon Jr. noted Roman’s “extensive criminal history and the dangerousness of (his) actions.”…
