Marin Co.: Emergency Food Fund Seeks To Fill Gap Left By Expiring Federal Assistance

On Thursday, the Marin Community Foundation launched a fund to provide urgent food assistance for Marin County residents impacted by the imminent expiration Saturday of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits through CalFresh.

The Food on Every Table fund seeks to fill the gap in food assistance caused by the ongoing federal government shutdown. The foundation has a goal to raise $3.3 million within the next week to insure that more than 15,500 Marin residents will have access to food throughout November. MCF has seeded the fund with $500,000.
