Marine Patrol rescues pelican tangled in fishing gear on Sarasota Bay

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Marine Patrol Officers rescued a pelican that was found tangled in fishing gear on Sarasota Bay.

Officers carefully untangled the bird, which then flew away.

“Take these broken wings, and learn to fly again, learn to live so free,” Sarasota PD said in a social media post. “This poor guy went full hook, line, and sinker before our Marine Patrol swooped in for the rescue. A quick untangle, a happy flap, and he was off again. All in a day’s work on Sarasota Bay!”
