Meals From the Heartland to Donate an Additional One Million Meals

(West Des Moines, IA) — An Iowa-based volunteer organization is increasing its food donations.

Meals from the Heartland says it will be donating an additional one million meals to Iowa food banks effective immediately. The increased donation is in response to the possiple interruption of SNAP benefits starting November 1st. So far this year, Meals from the Heartland has already shared 1.5 million meals with Iowans facing food insecurity, compared to just under a million meals shared in 2024.

Meals will be distributed to HACAP in Cedar Rapids and DMARC in Des Moines. Meals from the Heartland is always looking for volunteers, especially during times of increased demand…
