Mississippi has a proud military history, and every November, communities come together to celebrate Veterans Day with heartfelt ceremonies, parades, and tributes. From the Gulf Coast to the Delta, there are countless opportunities to honor the men and women who have served our country.
Jackson: Veterans Day Ceremony
In the capital city, the annual Veterans Day Ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 7, on the Entergy Plaza of the Two Mississippi Museums. The program will include a performance by the 41st Army Band, a moment of silence, recognition of the veterans in attendance and of fallen heroes by the Adjutant General of the Mississippi National Guard. A memorial volley and wreath laying will follow.
The museums are offering free admission to those currently serving in the military, veterans, and a family member of a veteran on November 7. Free parking is available in the Two Mississippi Museums parking garage, located behind the museums on Jefferson Street.
Vicksburg Military Park & Memorials
Vicksburg National Military Park offers a deeply moving way to honor veterans, especially on Veterans Day. The park preserves the site of one of the Civil War’s most pivotal battles and includes more than 1,300 monuments, markers, and memorials dedicated to those who fought.
