LPD Offering Safety Reminders For Halloween

As you prepare to take your kids trick-or-treating Friday night Lincoln Police are issuing some Halloween safety tips. Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says wear bright, reflective clothing and ensure costumes fit well to prevent tripping. “Use face paint or makeup instead of a mask to improve vision, and carry a flashlight or glow stick.”

She says stick to a pre-planned route in a familiar neighborhood and stick to sidewalks. Other tips include:

  • Crossing streets: Always cross at a corner, using crosswalks if available. Before crossing, look left, right, and left again, and make eye contact with drivers to ensure they see you.
