BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) – The Birmingham Fire Department is on the scene of a large fire in Birmingham.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue was dispatched at 5:53 a.m. on Friday on 13th Avenue South at Cobb Lane. When crews arrived, they discovered a commercial structure well involved. The building where the fire began was vacant and had no power.
Three buildings were involved in the fire in total. There were two buildings on either side of the commercial structure, which also caught fire. The left building was both commercial and residential. It was mixed use. There were 14 units, and seven of them were occupied. The right building was Cobb Lane Condos, with 18 units. It is unclear how many were occupied in the right building because the condos are individually owned. Crews quickly rushed to evacuate residents from the other two buildings…
