$1 million bond set for man allegedly involved in shootout with officers in West Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The man accused of a burglary that ended in a shootout with Omaha Police last month appeared in court Friday.

Dean Wies, 55, was charged after police say he fired a handgun at officers. Bond was set at $1 million. He’s due back in court on Dec. 10.

Wies has been formally charged with attempted assault on an officer, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, and burglary.

Wies was shot in the abdomen when officers returned fire and was also bitten by a officer’s K-9 during the Oct. 16 incident, according to police reports. After being hospitalized, OPD said Wednesday that he was taken into custody…
