Award-winning Japanese restaurant in Minneapolis to close after 21 years

The award-winning Zen Box Izakaya will host its final day of service on Nov. 22.

The Japanese restaurant with beloved ramen made the announcement on Friday, saying that the husband-and-wife team of Chef John Ng and Lina Goh has made the “difficult decision” to close after more than 21 years.

The Minneapolis restaurant “has faced significant challenges in recent years, including prolonged road construction that severely impacted visibility and accessibility, as well as the uncertain future of the apartment building in which it is located,” according to an announcement.
