Man convicted of raping 14-year-old girl in Albany

ALBANY — A 28-year-old man was convicted of first-degree rape Friday for attacking a 14-year-old girl he found walking with a classmate on a city street.

Mohammed Gubari was convicted after a three-day trial in state Supreme Court Justice Thomas Marcelle’s courtroom, according to the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.

Gubari attacked the girl after spotting her and a 17-year-old girl walking along Central Avenue. Prosecutors said Gubari followed the girls. They got into his vehicle and he drove to a dark parking lot off Central where he raped the younger girl despite her pleas that he stop, prosecutors said…
