Guilford County Schools to continue free meals for kids needing assistance

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Tens of thousands of students will be impacted by the loss of benefits provided by the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), according to Guilford County Schools (GCS).

Starting November 1, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) directed states to suspend all SNAP benefit payments until federal funding becomes available. That means no new November benefits will be loaded onto EBT cards until the shutdown ends.
