DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) – A Decatur man filed a lawsuit for shots being fired into his home during the fatal shooting of Steve Perkins.
Justin Shepherd was Steve Perkins’ neighbor, who was fatally shot by former Decatur Police officer Mac Marquette in 2023 while accompanying a tow truck driver to repossess Perkins’ pickup truck at his home.
The lawsuit shows that Shepherd is suing Marquette, the city of Decatur, Pentagon Federal Credit Union, and the tow truck company, Allstar Recovery. The lawsuit states that approximately six to 11 bullets that were fired at Perkins went through Shepherd’s home, passing through the walls and into living spaces where he was present, and he “narrowly escaped serious injury or death,” and his home had damage to it…
