COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Many Comstock Township community members came forward during a public hearing Thursday to express serious safety concerns over a rezoning ordinance for a proposed lithium-ion battery energy storage site.
The ordinance aims to change zoning laws to allow for a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) site, which would store excess energy inside of lithium-ion batteries for later redistribution into the grid.
