Thaddeus Stevens College Earns National Recognition as Aspen Prize Top 200 Community College

Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Pennsylvania has been named one of the Aspen Prize Top 200 U.S. Community Colleges by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program. This recognition allows the college to compete for the $1 million 2027 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, an award for two-year colleges. The selection is based on student outcomes, including retention, completion, and transfer rates. Thaddeus Stevens is now among the top 20 percent of community colleges in the country.

The college reports that 97 percent of its graduates are employed or continuing their education. The median first-year salary for graduates is $52,500. Thaddeus Stevens serves about 1,500 students in 24 technical and trade degree programs. The college is noted for its focus on providing access to technical education and supporting career preparation.

In the next 20 months, colleges competing for the Aspen Prize will be evaluated on teaching quality, degree completion, transfer and bachelor’s attainment, employment outcomes, and equitable access.
