Inmate stabs correctional officer in Mobile Metro Jail, MCSO says

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – An inmate at the Mobile Metro Jail has stabbed a correctional officer, according to the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Corrections Officer Tyler Simms was stabbed in the chest by Jeremiah Jackson, 31, while serving breakfast trays on Friday. The weapon was a “shank” made by Jackson while he was in jail.

Corrections Officer Simms was taken to the hospital with non-threatening injuries and was released after treatment, MCSO said…
