The recent temporary suspension of federal funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), known as CalFresh in California, has affected residents in Rancho Cordova and nearby areas. Many families and individuals who use these benefits are now looking for other sources of food assistance. Local organizations are working to provide support during this period.
Rancho Cordova has three main food distribution centers. The Rancho Cordova Food Locker at Cordova Neighborhood Church on Coloma Road distributes food on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. The People’s Pantry at United Methodist Church on Zinfandel Drive offers food on Tuesdays at 9 AM. The Salvation Army Rancho Cordova Community Hub on Old Placerville Road provides food on the first Wednesday of each month from 10 AM to 2 PM.
Community members can help by making monetary donations, which allow food banks to buy food in bulk. Donations can be made directly to the Rancho Cordova Food Locker.
