The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has released an update on an incident that took place on October 20, 2025, at Ralph’s grocery store on Hollister Avenue. Deputies responded at 2:39 pm to a report of a man assaulting another man with a weapon. Detectives found that the conflict began after the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Abdou Rahman Nyan of Connecticut, was seen mistreating the victim’s dog.
Before deputies arrived, Nyan stabbed the adult male victim twice and then went into the grocery store. The store had customers and staff inside at the time. Deputies, including Sergeant Eric Delgadillo and Deputy Anthony Muneton, entered the store and found Nyan in a public restroom. They tried to negotiate with him. Nyan then came out holding two knives and a metal trashcan and moved toward the deputies.
A Taser was used, but Nyan continued to approach. Sergeant Delgadillo and Deputy Muneton fired six rounds, which resulted in Nyan’s death. Deputies secured the area and attempted first aid, but medical personnel pronounced Nyan dead at the scene. No deputies were injured…
