Police and fire first responders in The Village now have the ability to cite individuals who impede or interfere with their ability to safely perform their duties. The City Council approved the new Ordinance 779 at its October meeting. It becomes effective Nov. 1.
Under the new ordinance, officers can now cite individuals who, after receiving a verbal warning, approach a first responder who is engaged in the lawful performance of a legal duty, knowingly and willfully violate such warning and approach or come within 25 feet of the first responder.
