Baby okapi to make public debut during Houston Zoo’s Dia de los Muertos celebration

A newborn okapi will make its public debut this weekend during the Houston Zoo’s first Dia de los Muertos celebration.

Okapis are Central African animals with zebra-like stripes that are “closely related to giraffes,” according to the Houston Zoo. The new okapi calf was born Sept. 8 to his mother, Sukari.
