The culinary scene in San Antonio continues to heat up. Not only did two local restaurants recently receive a Michelin Star at Texas’ second Michelin Guide ceremony, but a handful of new eateries welcomed San Antonians and visitors alike in October 2025. Though October saw many longtime bars and eateries shutter, it also saw a decent number of places open.
From vivacious Mexican joints to resurrected soul food spots, here are some of the hottest new restaurants that opened in San Antonio in October.
Mrs. Kitchen Soul Food Restaurant
After going dark in August 2024, this San Antonio soul food staple has reopened in a new location. Mrs. Kitchen Soul Food Restaurant opened its doors on Friday, October 10. A video posted on the eatery’s Facebook page shows eager diners lining up outside the restaurant on opening day to get their fill of smothered pork chops and other soul food staples like collard greens, fried catfish and more.
