Albany County reunites 4-year-old girl with deported mom

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Albany County has worked, quietly behind the scenes, to reunite a young girl with her mother, after ICE deported her mother. The county kept the child out of a detention center and reunified the pair on Thursday in Colombia.

NEWS10 met the young girl on Wednesday and has more on the heartwarming reunification.

It was a tearful reunion for mother and daughter, both named Maria. It’s what Albany County Executive Dan McCoy, and many others, worked hard for.

“When I found out she’s four I’m like, this is like dealing with my own grandchild, I couldn’t imagine my daughter being away from her child for eight months. Any mother. That’s what compelled us,” said McCoy…
